Wednesday Math

February 10th

Bonjour tout le monde!

This Friday is our Valentine's Party! It is also the 100th day of school!

Mathematics - We are currently working on Money! We have created a store in the classroom where students have been purchasing fruits and vegetables and making change from 10 cents. Please continue to work on this at home. We have also been investigating different ways to make, for example, 15 cents using nickels, dimes, and pennies.
Please continue to work on skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s each night.

Language
- Writing- We are going to begin Narrative Writing next week. We will be discussing the events at the beginning, middle, and end of the text. We will be learning about character development, setting, problem, and solution.

Reading - Please continue to read every night. Please work on the various reading strategies at home - using the pictures, making connections, covering words, looking for small words within the bigger word, sounding letters out carefully and then re-reading the word.
Please encourage students to be speaking IN FRENCH at all times at school.

Science - We are starting our Energy unit for Science. We will be investigating various types of energy such as solar, wind, human, etc.  I can't wait to get started! We will have a variety of objects in the classroom to investigate how they move and are powered.

Social Studies - We have begun our Local Communities unit. We will be investigating our local community. We will be using maps, group discussions, pictures, landmarks etc.

Music - We are creating compositions using Boom Whackers. Students have learned hand signs for various pitches and we are using our knowledge of rhythm and measure to create short compositions in small groups. We are having a BLAST!

Please continue to use the livres-vidéos website provided for extra reading materials at home.
